I drew it in September then a few months later I ended up redrawing 80% of the image. Their poses still look too stiff for my taste, especially when compared to the original comic book illustrations. Drawing masked robots and making them look expressive is the area I should work more in the future.
According to canon these two mechs share a legal life-long relationship similar to marriage (suggested by the name of this relationship) that's why they're nominated fandom's space husbandos. The smaller one is not a kid, he's just tiny like that.
At first, #12 their story saddened me a bit because I read it according to Chromedome's point of view only. Chromedome is the only character out of the whole Transformers franchise I sympathize with, beginning from his cynical view about life to the exposure to chronic pain included. Which made me wonder... What if Chromedome actually continues to harm himself by doing these mnemo-autopsies just to have loving Rewind pay extra attention to him?
Enjoy the fanart while you can, because J. Roberts must have prepared something awful for him. I hate it how dysfunctional individuals like Chromedome are killed in books, movies and comics, as if death was the only way to liberate them from their misery... or as if writing about these individual’s everyday's life proved to be too difficult.

I love the subtle expressions in their hands and the little tilt of their helms toward each other. It's so sweet with an undertone of sad. Excellent job - and interesting musings you made in the a/n, there. I certainly hope that Chromedome somehow remains among the living. Writers hand-waving a character's death as an escape from their misery is bad symbolism in ways I won't gripe about on a comment that I intend to be complementary - but in short, I agree with you.
Really nice, crisp lighting you did in this, and cool lettering at the bottom too.
